Railroad Ties

Railroad ties were once made from wood, but are now commonly made from concrete. They provide support, and are laid underneath and perpendicular to the rails.

Pressure treated railroad ties are considered Treated Wood Waste. See TWWDisposal.org for fact sheets and outeach materials.
