Mattresses & Box Springs

Mattresses and box springs are made from cotton, wool, foam, or synthetic fill and often have metal springs for support. Boxsprings are usually hollow and made with a wooden frame wrapped in light padding and textiles.

Donate or offer up your mattress, box spring, and futon for reuse to your community before recycling. Find a collection site at ByeByeMattress for no cost or a small incentive payment. Wet, moldy, and/or bed bug items must be landfilled and will not be accepted for recycling (see full list). Learn what gets recycled from a mattress.

New mattress being delivered? California law requires retailers to offer to take back your old one at no cost.

Clean and dry pillows, mattress toppers, bed frames and bedlinens to be donated separately.
