Major Household Appliances - Working

Household appliances can be manual or automatic tools used in the home.

Consider donation, resale, reuse, or repair before disposal. DIY repair resources through iFixit.

Due to their potential hazards, California law requires that major appliances, and certain materials within the major appliances, be properly removed and managed. Major Appliances may include: washing machine, clothes dryer, hot water heater, dehumidifier, conventional oven, stove, refrigerator, freezer, air-conditioner, trash compactor, and residential furnace. Transfer stations and landfills in California have designated areas for appliance collection to be picked up by a certified appliance recycling (CAR) company. Search the Listing of Certified Appliance Recyclers to find one your area.
