Glass Bottles & Jars (Food & Beverage) - Non-CRV

Glass bottles & jars without a CRV (California Redemption Value) usually contain liquids. Glass bottles can be various colors and shapes, though they most commonly have narrow necks and long bodies. Bottles that do not qualify for the California Redemption Value include medical food, infant formula, wine, liquor, and fruit juice.

Must be empty and drip-free before recycling.

Materials that should not be mixed into curbside recycling and when broken belong in the garbage: beverage glasses, plates, ceramics, Pyrex or other heat resistant glass, light bulbs, computer monitors, phone screens, plate glass: windows, sliding doors, safety glass, car windshields, art glass, leaded crystal, mirrors.

As of Jan. 1, 2024, there are new eligible beverage containers for redemption in the California Beverage Recycling Program. Consumers pay CA Redemption Value (CRV) when they purchase beverages from a retailer. Find changes to the program and redemption locations here, or call 1-800-RECYCLE.
