Borrow or donate. The Oakland Tool Lending Library – a branch of the Oakland Public Library system – has more than 3,500 tools that residents of Oakland, Emeryville and Piedmont can borrow for free with their library card. Search the library catalog for tools and check out a brief history of our TLL. Sign Up to use the TLL. Donating Tools to be added to the TLL inventory or to be sold for a suggested donation at one of our Saturday tool sales.. See tool list Smaller donations may be dropped off during library open hours at least 30 minutes before closing. The best hours to avoid a wait are Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please understand that we need to help patrons waiting in line before we can look at your donation.
