The Berkeley Recycling Center offers both drop-off (free and for a fee) and buy-back services (ex. this is a CRV Redemption Center) for a wide range of recyclable materials. Aluminum Foil & Pans - Clean Aluminum foil must be separate from aluminum scrap and cans; it should be free of food. Bi-metal cans, primarily pet food cans, may be added to aluminum foil at the drop-off. Aluminum scrap includes foil, signs, aluminum windows, aluminum shavings, rims, scraps, car and bicycle parts. Berkeley Recycling will purchase your aluminum scrap, or accept it at the drop-off.

Auto Parts & Scrap Automotive parts that are mostly metal, such as automobile hoods, doors, frames, fenders, rims, et cetera, are accepted. All engine parts must be thoroughly drained of motor oil, gear oil, and antifreeze before arrival at the site. Note: Fuel tanks not accepted.

Batteries - Automotive or Boat We now accept automotive batteries at the drop-off no fees. Automotive and marine batteries may also be recycled at most automotive shops and dealers throughout Berkeley.

Plastic Wide Mouth Container These must be clean and empty and are accepted for donation only. Plastic Containers is a new category of plastic now being accepted at Berkeley Recycling. It typically includes food containers such as yogurt and dairy tubs, food take-out containers, clam shells and drink cups. This category also includes non-food rigid packaging. No plastic bags, film plastic or styrofoam.

Rigid Plastics Typically includes items such as 5-gallon buckets, crates, large plastic containers, nursery pots, plastic lawn chairs and other scrap plastic. Rigid plastic should be clean and nursery pots should be emptied of dirt. No rubber, PVC pipe, vinyl or laminated plastic.

Scrap Metal Berkeley Recycling does not accept 55-gallon drums (unless cut in half), cylinders or propane tanks.
