Rags & Materials - Paint/Chemical/Oil/Gas Soiled
Gas-soaked materials (ex. rags, absorbents, cardboard) are considered hazardous waste and should not be disposed of in the garbage or recycling bins. Due to their ignitable properties, these materials must be handled and disposed of safely at a Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
FYI - Water used to clean paint brushes with acrylic paint (water-based) can be poured down the drain.
Paint thinner used to clean paint brushes used with oil-based paint is considered hazardous waste for residents and businesses to bring into a hazardous waste facility.
