Welcome to RE:Source! Your online directory for reuse, repair and proper disposal options for the Bay Area. Although we do our best to stay up-to-date, information is constantly changing and we encourage you to call ahead to verify hours and availability.
Mattresses & Box Springs
Donate your mattress, box spring, or futon for reuse to your community before choosing recycling. Clean and dry pillows, mattress toppers, bed frames and bedlinens can also be donated for reuse.
Find collection sites at ByeByeMattress to recycle your mattress at no cost or to receive a small incentive payment.
Mattresses that are twisted, frozen, soaked in bodily fluids, or have living critters cannot be accepted for recycling and must be landfilled (see full list).
Have a new mattress being delivered? California law requires that retailers offer to take back your old mattress at no cost.
