Due to their potential hazards, California law requires that major appliances, and certain materials within the major appliances, be properly removed and managed. Major Appliances may include: washing machine, clothes dryer, hot water heater, dehumidifier, conventional oven, stove, refrigerator, freezer, air-conditioner, trash compactor, and residential furnace.Transfer stations and landfills in California have designated areas for appliance collection to be picked up by a certified appliance recycling (CAR) company.
