Food for Donation

Did you know that reducing food waste is one of the leading solutions to climate change? Go to StopFoodWaste.org for Food Saving Tips and Tricks.

As of January 1, 2022, a new California law states businesses who currently throw away edible food must now recover and donate it. Click here for rules, resources, and lists in Alameda County, and here for Contra Costa County.

Additional Online Resources for Food for Donation

  • Non-perishable only. Commercial quantity. LiquiDonate matches and moves reclaimable items (ex. returns, liquidation, branded items, inventory, apparel, office/warehouse supplies, nonperishable food) from businesses to nonprofits, including arranging pickup or delivery. Free delivery for non-profits, business pays for delivery.
  • Volunteer to pick up perishable food locally to use or redistribute
  • A directory of organizations across the United States that rescue, glean, transport, prepare, and distribute food to the needy in their communities.
