Christmas Trees

Consider renting a living tree for the season, or planting it in your yard after the holidays to avoid waste. Cut, live Christmas trees (conifers) must be stripped of all decorations, lights, stand, tinsel, and un-bagged to be mulched and composted. Some cities need the tree cut to fit into the Green/Organics Bin. Flocked trees must be cut to fit in your Garbage Cart, as the flocking material make them unacceptable for composting. Check with your curbside service provider for details and dates for pick-up for residents and businesses.

Reuse or donate good condition holiday and seasonal items, artificial Christmas trees, string lights (working/non-working), gift wrap (paper gift wrap, metallic gift wrap) and tissue paper.

Clyde accepts this item in your curbside organics container.

Contact hauler for holiday tree pick up schedule, alternatively cut unflocked trees to fit in organics cart and remove tree stands, all ornamentation, tinsel, and nails. Flocked trees belong in the garbage.

Concord accepts this item in your curbside organics container.

Please place your Christmas tree at the curb on your green waste collection day and it will be picked up at no additional charge. Trees may be up to 3 feet in length. If your tree is longer than 3 feet, please cut the tree before placing the pieces next to your green waste cart. Remove all tinsel, lights, decorations, tree stands and plastic bags from Christmas trees prior to collection. Flocked trees cannot be recycled and must be disposed of as garbage — consider using an artificial flocked tree that can be reused year after year. You may also drop off your Christmas tree at 1300 Loveridge Pittsburg Facility (Recycling Center & Transfer Station) at no charge. Limit one (1) tree per vehicle.
