Plastic Bottles & Jugs - Non-CRV

Plastic bottles (non-CRV) do not have a California Redemption Value. They do not include a deposit at time of purchase. Examples are three-gallon and five-gallon water containers.

Bottles and jugs must be empty and drip-free with lid reattached before placing in recycling container.

As of Jan. 1, 2024, there are new eligible beverage containers for redemption in the California Beverage Recycling Program. Consumers pay CA Redemption Value (CRV) when they purchase beverages from a retailer. Find changes to the program and redemption locations here.
