Mattresses & Box Springs

Mattresses and box springs are made from cotton, wool, foam, or synthetic fill and often have metal springs for support. Boxsprings are usually hollow and made with a wooden frame wrapped in light padding and textiles.

Donate or offer up your mattress for reuse to your community before recycling. Did you know that recycling one mattress can save 500 gallons of water?  New mattress being delivered? California law requires retailers to offer to take back your old one at no cost.

Clean and dry pillows, mattress toppers, bed frames and bedlinens to be donated separately.

West County HHW Collection Facility 101 Pittsburg Ave. Richmond Recycle Free Drop-off, Paid Drop-off Republic Services has teamed up with the Mattress Recycling Council’s Bye Bye Mattress Program to allow eligible residents to drop-off old unwanted mattresses, box springs or futons at no additional charge.
