Household Hazardous Waste
This item should never be put in a curbside bin. For more information visit our household hazardous waste page.
Common or household batteries include AA, AAA, C & D cells, 9V, NiCads (and other rechargeables) and button batteries (e.g. camera and hearing aid batteries). These contain a corrosive chemical that can cause burns as well as toxic heavy metals like cadmium.
This item should never be put in a curbside bin. For more information visit our household hazardous waste page.
Do not put batteries inside curbside recycling or trash containers. Single-use batteries are not usable when they lose their charge. Tape ends of batteries to prevent igniting or combusting. Store tape next to your old battery collection bag or container. Accepted by the Household Hazardous Waste Facilities and some community partners.
