Agricultural Plastics & Film

Agricultural plastics, or plasticulture, are used in food production throughout the world and range from mulching film and irrigation to greenhouse films, crop tunnels, pond liners, aquaculture, erosion control, and the plastic chemical containers used in agriculture.

Offer good condition drip irrigation parts & film for reuse. Farm quantity drip tubing and film plastic may have recycling options. Place broken or sun damaged materials in the trash.

Many agricultural plastics (ex. mulch film, drip tape, pesticide containers) are recyclable. However, due to the high level of contamination (dirt, rocks, plant material, etc.), most of this material is not currently recycled. There are several recycling operations in the state (Revolution Plastics) that recycle various types of agricultural plastics. EPR has begun with ag plastics in Canada.

For ag plastic chemical containers (HDPE jugs & drums), follow Agricultural Container Recycling Council's triple-rinse rules and contact the regional contractor for pick up schedules in your area. Pesticide container recycling in California is under the purview of the California Department of Pesticide Regulation.
